Director

Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization

Dr. Kumar is the Director of Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization. After spending 15 years in academia where his research was funded and supported by the National Science Foundation, Federal Highway Administration, Greater New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, and Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, he switched to the practice of planning. He was previously the Director of Planning and Development for the City of Jackson, where he was responsible for development services, economic development, housing, and public transit. Committed to the values of human scale and intergenerational equity, he finds his inner quiet within webs of urban complexities. Using running and cycling as excuses to experience the built environment, he enjoys being a perennial student of cities.
