Dave Herlong is the Chief Operating Officer at Ubicquia, where he leads the company's Smart Grid, Smart Lighting, and Public Safety business segments. With a focus on driving operational excellence and innovation, Dave is responsible for overseeing daily operations, product development, and strategic growth initiatives.

Before joining Ubicquia, Dave had a distinguished 30-year career at Florida Power & Light (FPL), where he played a critical role in modernizing electricity infrastructure. He founded the companies smart grid analytics,  drone and robotics efforts. As Senior Director of FPL's state-of-the-art Distribution Control Center, and later as Executive Director of Smart Grid and Innovation, Dave spearheaded efforts to enhance grid resiliency and operational efficiency. His leadership led to advancements in smart grid technology, storm restoration, and cyber resiliency. Throughout his tenure, Dave earned five U.S. patents for innovations in smart grid analytics.

In 2024, Dave was reappointed to the U.S. Department of Energy's Electricity Advisory Committee, where he continues to influence the direction of the country's energy policies and infrastructure development. 

Dave holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida and an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from MIT's Sloan School of Management. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and an Eagle Scout, reflecting his commitment to excellence and leadership both professionally and personally.
