Matthew Wright is the Director of Human Resources for the City of Buda, bringing more than two decades of public service experience from the Austin Police Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant in Internal Affairs. In addition to serving as an academy trainer, detective, and patrol officer, he worked closely with HR on internal investigations and policy compliance. Matt holds a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas State University, focused on workforce and leadership, and is also a Certified Public Manager. He has volunteered on Buda’s Planning and Zoning Commission and Main Street Advisory Board.
